To quote the great Muhammad Ali, “It isn’t the mountains ahead to climb that wear you out; it’s the pebble in your shoe”. Ali was talking about how it is not always the big things that challenge us the most but rather the smaller problems that we ignore or can’t get an answer to. By overlooking the small things, we are probably underestimating how much they can hinder and drain our energy.
Our world of compliance monitoring and reporting has the big ticket items in droves: the mountains of regulations; the shifting landscapes; and the diversity across geographies.But the smaller items are also not in short supply. If you have the legal experts in-house to go to for the big ticket items, the smaller questions can sometimes get lost or pushed aside for later. Sometimes, we can even persuade ourselves that they probably aren’t that big a deal.
If - like many - you don’t have in-house experts on tap, the smaller questions might not even get the airtime they perhaps deserve as the mountains are definitely dominating the horizon.
What sort of questions are we talking about? Frankly, there are so many small questions it could be anything, related to anywhere across the globe. For example, are cash-settled derivatives disclosable in Japan? Or perhaps, is there a short reporting requirement in Switzerland? Or, why do you adjust derivatives exposure with delta under the SSR?
We’ve decided it’s time to give you a place to go with those short, sharp questions that go beyond the standard. Something for both clients and those of you yet to join us. To help you with those micro questions that can become those macro headaches, we are excited to announce the launch of the ‘Dashing Dane’ series on TikTok. Yes, you read that right, the world of compliance monitoring and reporting is grabbing its turn in the spotlight on TikTok, the channel more usually associated with entertainment, influencers and comedy.
TikTok is all about the short video (think one minute) and what better way to answer your smaller Disclosure Dilemmas than with a bit of infotainment.
